Every year, once the calendar turns into its last quarter, a lot of people take a natural pause. They look at what is left of the year, think about what is coming, and sometimes, without quite meaning to, end up checking in on their retirement plan. For most, that check in stops at a pension statement, a number on a screen that moves up or down with the market. Rarely does anyone ask whether part of that plan could look different: something you can visit, use for a weekend, and eventually leave to your family.
A statement is not the same as a place
None of this is meant to replace the advice of whoever helps you with your finances, or to suggest you stop contributing to your pension. But it is worth asking whether your plan also includes something tangible, something that does not depend only on a market. Altos de Yariguíes Country Club is a project of 138 residential lots and a commercial area on the shore of the Topocoro Reservoir in Santander, built and sold directly by Proyecto Girasoles S.A.S. Every lot comes with its own independent title deed, in your name, and the full development, across both of its stages, can be explored before you decide anything, through a 360 degree virtual tour filmed on site or an in person visit to the model home, which is already built.
Something you can use while you build it
One advantage of thinking of a lot as part of your plan is that you do not have to wait for retirement to enjoy it. The social club at Altos de Yariguíes is already standing: a panoramic pool overlooking the reservoir, a social bar, ecological trails through native forest, and a park for owners' pets, all behind two access gates. The project is also fully developed, with paved roads, solar powered street lighting, underground electrical wiring, and its own drinking water treatment plant. Just 500 meters away are the reservoir's water sports facilities, with kayak, paddleboard, jet ski and wakeboard, along with a natural waterfall, horseback riding trails and ATV routes. It is a place you use from the first weekend, not a promise for many years down the road.
Something you can pass on too
Because every lot has its own deed and independent title, separate from any other, it is something you can eventually leave to your children or to whoever you choose, the same way a house or any other asset in your name works. And you do not have to wait for retirement to start, either: Proyecto Girasoles finances its buyers directly, with no banks involved. In Stage 1, financing extends up to 7 months, and in Stage 2, buyers can finance up to 40% of the lot's value over 22 months, depending on the lot they choose. Reserving a lot is possible starting at $20,000,000 COP, and if you decide to build, you can do so with the project's own construction company or with another one, as long as it follows the owner's manual.
October is a good time for that pause. This is not about replacing your pension or rushing a financial decision, it is about asking whether your retirement plan includes something you can visit, touch and use, not just a number on a statement.
