Imagine someone hands you a free morning on the water, and you can only pick one thing: kayak, paddleboard, jet ski or wakeboard. There is no right answer, but the question says a lot about the kind of weekend you want. On the Topocoro Reservoir, known in Santander as "the sea of Santander," all four options share the same water, and it is worth deciding which one fits you before you arrive.
Do you want to go slow, or do you want adrenaline?
This is the first question, and it sorts almost everything else. If you like a calm pace, kayaking and paddleboarding let you move at your own speed, look at the shoreline, the forest and the mountains, and talk to whoever is next to you. If you like speed, the jet ski and the wakeboard change the rhythm completely: wake, spray and plenty of movement. Neither is better than the other. They are two ways of using the same reservoir, and plenty of people end up trying both in a single weekend.
Are you going alone, as a couple, or with the whole family?
The second question is who comes with you. A double kayak is a good way for two people to share the water. Paddleboarding invites you to slow down and take your time. Wakeboarding and jet skiing tend to work best with a group that takes turns and cheers from the shore. Thinking about your company helps you choose the plan, and decide what to save for another day.
How close do you want to be to the water sports area?
The third question is a practical one that almost nobody asks: how far is the water from where you sleep? Altos de Yariguíes is 500 meters from the reservoir's water sports facilities, and 50 minutes from Bucaramanga via the old road to Barrancabermeja, past the La Renta rest stop, just after a stop sign, then straight ahead. For someone who owns a lot in the project, that means a day on the water does not depend on a long round trip. And when the day ends, the social club, with its panoramic pool looking straight at the reservoir and its social bar, is right where you rest.
If any of this made you think about having your own place close to the water, you can see the project in person. The model home is already built and open for tours, and every lot is delivered with its own independent title deed. In the meantime, the question stands: which sport would you try first?
